Common Questions
The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and the only authority for salvation and Christian living (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It tells one continuous story: God’s love for humanity, our fall into sin, and His plan to redeem us through Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible reveals that there is one God who desires a personal relationship with every person. It shows us how to be saved, how to live holy lives, and how to spend eternity with Him. As Dr. David K. Bernard teaches, “The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God & our understanding of truth must be grounded in Scripture.”
Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16). He is not a second person in a Trinity—He is the one true God of the Old Testament (Jehovah/Yahweh) who came to earth in human form. “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9). Jesus is fully God and fully man in one person. He is “God with us” (Matthew 1:23), the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15), and our Creator, Savior, and coming King.
God came in the flesh because only God could save us from sin—and only a perfect human sacrifice could pay sin’s penalty. Humanity was separated from God because of sin, and no one else could bridge that gap. The incarnation allowed the one God to become the perfect mediator between holy God and sinful man. As Dr. David K. Bernard writes, the purpose of the Incarnation was “to provide a holy man to mediate between holy God and sinful mankind.” Jesus came to reveal the Father, live a sinless life, and offer Himself as the only way of salvation.
Jesus died as the perfect, sinless sacrifice for our sins. His death on the cross paid the full price for every sin ever committed. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins (Hebrews 9:22). His death, burial, and resurrection are the very heart of the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Through His atoning death, God reconciled the world to Himself. The Bible teaches that Christ’s death paid for our sins and that the blood of Jesus has power to forgive, cleanse, and give new life.
The Bible gives one clear plan of salvation: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38). This is the same message preached by the apostles on the Day of Pentecost. Repentance turns us from sin, baptism in Jesus’ name washes away our sins, and the Holy Ghost gives us power to live for God. This is the Good News preached by the Apostles and the pattern for every new believer in the New Testament.
Yes! God wants a real, personal relationship with you. When you follow the biblical plan of salvation, you are born again, filled with His Spirit, and become part of His family. Jesus said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30)—and through Him you can know the one true God intimately.
