True joy isn’t something we can manufacture on our own; it is a direct result of the Holy Spirit working within us. We find this clearly laid out in our primary scripture for today, Galatians 5:22–23:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such such there is no law.”
Notice that “joy” is listed right there at the beginning. When you are walking with God, joy isn’t just an optional accessory—it is a byproduct of His Spirit living in you. It is a joy that remains even when your circumstances are difficult.
Investing in Your Walk
I want to commend you for being here today because you are “investing in your walk with God”. Just like a garden requires care and attention to produce fruit, our spiritual lives require an investment of time in the Word and in the assembly of the saints.
-
Prioritize His Presence: When we prioritize the house of the Lord, we are positioning ourselves to receive the joy that the world cannot give.
-
Live Above the Law: When we walk in the Spirit and produce this fruit, we are living on a level where “against such there is no law”. We aren’t just following a list of rules; we are living out of the abundance of God’s nature.
A Challenge for the Week
This week, I challenge you to intentionally seek joy. When the pressures of life try to steal your peace, go back to Galatians 5. Remind yourself that because the Spirit of God dwells in you, you have access to a joy that is foundational and unshakeable.
Thank you for being part of what God is doing in this house. Let’s go out and show the world the joy of the Lord!
