Represent Relationships 2015

Represent Relationships 2015

Thank you students and parents

Thanks to all of the students who came out to Represent Relationships 2015, and a BIG thank you to all of the parents who came out to show their support to the young people of Church of Pentecost. Your support shows our young people the importance of including God in their relationship choices.

Many parents wish that they would’ve had someone in their life when they were a teenager/young adult to speak to them about making choices that please God, and seeking His will in their relationship.  That is what we are trying to do with our annual Represent Relationships Night, encourage students to “Seek ye first” in their relationships, and to learn to trust God in this aspect of their lives as much or more than they trust Him in every other aspect of their life.

The second most important decision

Who we spend the rest of our life with is the second most important decision of our lives (only following where we spend our eternity), and we believe that getting it right is worth the effort.  We believe that God has a plan for our lives and He knows who would not only make us the most happy, but He also knows who would help us to become the best person, spouse, parent, and Christian we can be. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 NIV

We believe that God takes into account our weaknesses and that He knows who would be the best helpmeet to strengthen us, and to help us become the best version of ourselves + Him that we can be. If we take the time to seek His will for our lives. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 NIV

Just as we see the importance of sacrifice and hard work to achieve goals for our careers, we must also see the importance of recognizing that a God-centered relationship is not a coat that one puts on for dates, but instead it is a lifestyle that takes hard work and sacrifice.  However the benefits outweigh any career success.

Self Control

The Bible tells us that it is good for a man not to touch a woman, and this series Worth The Wait from the Pentecostal Publishing House gives great insight on having Godly relationship that is Christ-centered instead of physically and emotionally self-centered.

If you are considering a God-centered relationship lifestyle for yourself, good for you, but remember that this must be a choice that you make for yourself to please God.  Revelation 3:16 says So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

You can make the right choices, and say all the right things, but if it is not from your heart your relationship will still fail.  We must be genuine in our faith and our relationships.

Bottom Line

You cannot do anything about your past, but you make the choices that determine your future.  The choice to live a lifestyle of God-centered choices beginning in your relationships is one you can make today that will positively impact your life in ways you cannot begin to imagine.

It is definitely a lot of work, and is only possible with God, but the rewards both here and in eternity are definitely worth it.

God Bless!
