Joshua 24:15
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
The way we choose to live our lives is a clear indication of whom we’re serving, whether we want to admit or not.
Joshua 24:15 can be classified as one of the most decisive and powerful verses in the Word of God regarding whom we choose to serve. We must make the choice ourselves, and there’s no middle ground.
We’re made by God to serve Him alone by committing our lives fully to Him and His cause. Unfortunately sin has made its way into the world as a result of men’s disobedience. This has tremendously impacted us and caused confusion in our understanding of how we are to serve the Lord.
Ask yourself, what makes a house a home? Is it money, material things, or momentary pleasure? No.
What makes a house a home is the presence of God! You can make your house a home by staying Christ-centered and letting Jesus be Lord in your heart, home, and habits.
Many choose money and material things, or pleasure from moments on the weekends, but remember the words of Joshua “choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Choose charity.
Foster a selfless culture in your home. Instead of being self-centered, choose to be Christ-centered.
Matthew 22:39…Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
When you are Christ-centered you will love others like you love yourself. You will choose to give and care for others, and your light will shine bright in a world of darkness.
Be committed.
Psalms 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
What makes a house a home is being committed, even in the storms, sorrows, and situations of life.
Just as you are committed to eating, sleeping, your spouse, and your children, we must be committed to following Christ daily to make your house a home.
Choose you this day whom ye will serve.
