Each year we gather together at the Church of Pentecost to celebrate New Year’s Day with our friends and family. As we entered the church foyer we immediately smelled the savory smells of wonderful home cooked food. Our ears began to ring as we heard the chatter of our family and friends enjoying one another’s company in our newly renovated multipurpose room. I could only think how blessed I was to be able to be a part of such an amazing family.
After dinner we moved the festivities to the sanctuary for a fun filled evening full of laughter. Brother Nate Roberts, MC for the evening, began with the statement “One 4 All”. The theme was not only clever by playing on the year 2014, One 4, but also packed with meaning. A lot can be taken from that statement as there is One (Jesus) who died on the cross for ALL of our sins to be washed away. It is also the later part of the statement “All for one and one for all” bringing to us a sense of brotherhood, belonging, or working together. The evening moved forward with skits, poems, readings, singing, and funny commercials between all of the acts.
Growing up you probably remember spending the New Year’s Holiday with family or friends. Then as you grew older families began their own traditions and friends may have gone their own way. However, the one thing that will always remain consistent is your church family. If you currently don’t have a church family or never have been part of one then we invite you to visit our family. As old members move on and new members arrive we continue to celebrate life and ALL God’s blessings.
