The Muddy Path to a Better Way

The Muddy Path to a Better Way

As we look at the world and try to make sense of our lives, we often rely on our own understanding, but today I want to talk to you about The Muddy Path to a Better Way.

Sometimes the road God takes us on doesn’t look like the shortcut we expected; it might look messy or confusing, but it is always leading us to a higher place.

A Higher Perspective

We began our message today by looking at a fundamental truth found in Isaiah 55:8–9:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are my ways your ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

We have to talk about perspective. Often, we are standing in the middle of a “muddy path,” and all we can see is the mess around our feet. We perceive what we think is “normal” or “correct” based on our limited human understanding. But God is calling us to realize that His ways are on a completely different level. Just because a path is muddy doesn’t mean you’re going the wrong way; it might just be the way God is using to shape your perspective.

Redefining “Normal”

So often, we get stuck because we want God to follow our plans. We want Him to think like we think. But the Word is clear: our understanding is not the benchmark for truth.

  • Trust the Process: When God’s ways don’t align with your ways, it isn’t because He’s lost—it’s because He sees the end from the beginning.

  •

Question Your Perception: We need to look at how we perceive what is “correct” in our lives. If it doesn’t line up with His higher thoughts, we need to adjust our vision, not ask God to adjust His path.

Moving Forward

This week, if you find yourself on a path that seems messy or “muddy,” don’t be discouraged. Remember that His thoughts are higher than yours. Instead of trying to figure it all out with your own understanding, lean into His perspective. Ask Him to help you see your situation through the lens of Isaiah 55.
